Carver Middle School February Winners

Roots and Wings had a great morning at Carver Middle School, surprising teachers in their classroom as well as around campus. We began our morning by surprising Pebbles Mateo, Carver’s data processor and so much more, in the main office. We found and surprised Dwight Change out by the garden he helped create with students. Ferdinand Nanali, Carver’s innovative and dynamic science teacher, wandered by and to his surprise and shock he was also presented with one of our Above and Beyond Awards.  We them headed into the classroom area and found Sonia Johnson in her classroom discussing American citizenship. She received her award in front of her students. We asked Malherbe Belizaire to meet in her classroom, and he too was surprised with an Above and Beyond Award for his great work as a member of Carver’s guidance department.  Our next Award winner was Carly Rosen, an ESE teacher at Carver, who is always working hard to ensure that the needs of the students are being met both in and out of the classroom. Roots and Wings and our group of Community members found our last Above and Beyond Award Winner teaching Math to his students. He received his award for his work with the AVID students to provide them with experiences that will prepare them for the years that lie ahead. Seven surprised “stars” were singled out this morning for their dedication to their students and Carver.
