Since my arrival at Orchard View, I have seen such incredible growth in our students as a result of having Project UpLift through Roots and Wings in our school. The light that Ted Hoskinson saw as he developed this organization and program has provided much-needed support to help close the reading gap for our students and has had such an incredible impact on our students AND their families. We are truly blessed to have access to such an AMAZING organization and program.

I have been awed to see the speed at which Roots and Wings has been able to expand its reach in such a short time. It dramatically helps improve our local youth’s fundamental reading skills, and thus will prove to be an enormous contributing factor in the future success of these students.

Ted Hoskinson is the heartbeat of Roots and Wings. His passion for improving student outcomes for children inspired him to grow his program from one school, one grade level to ten schools and five grade levels. He’s providing tutoring opportunities for over 600 students that never would have been possible without him. Pine Grove Elementary is a prime example of the fruits of Ted’s labor with an almost 20% increase in 3rd grade students reading on grade level over a six-year period.

Ted Hoskinson’s passion created an amazing nonprofit to help the children in our community. Roots and Wings’ Project UpLift has incredible results in helping our local students increase their reading skills. We love that Roots and Wings also supports our true community heroes: the teachers!

The School District of Palm Beach County is so fortunate to partner with organizations like Roots and Wings and their founder, Ted Hoskinson. They provide vital support to our schools by giving our children extra support after school to solidify their literacy skills. Their recent expansion to Boynton and Boca schools only goes to show the value placed on their services by principals in our community. We look forward to welcoming them into schools further north in the years to come. Thank you, Mr. Hoskinson, for being an amazing example of excellence in community service.

Since its founding, Roots and Wings has been committed to fostering literacy and supporting educators in Palm Beach County. Every child deserves a champion, and founder Ted Hoskinson has been that champion to so many children (and their teachers). Ted is truly a community gem! From years of supporting many nonprofits and being a founder of Impact 100 Men, what Ted has done with Roots and Wings is nothing short of amazing. What started out as honoring four teachers at one school in Delray has turned into acknowledging 150 teachers each year for their dedication to our children. The world needs more people like Ted Hoskinson.

There is nothing more important in Delray Beach public education than reading proficiency in the early grades. Roots & Wings is successfully improving student reading skills by using teachers in their classrooms after school, extending the school day for deserving low-income students. Ted is the founder and the relentless driving force behind Roots and Wings. Our town is fortunate to have Ted and his demanding, important mission.

Roots and Wings has provided the materials, supplies, and assistance to help close the achievement gap. Without them, these students and teachers face challenges without the necessary resources to be successful.

The ability to read is fundamental and foundational to youth development. Ted, his staff, and his volunteers at Roots and Wings are committed to supporting teachers while ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed in school and life.

Ted is one of the most dedicated individuals that I know. He truly understands the potentially devastating consequences that kids who fail to learn how to read can face later in life. He is a passionate and compassionate man on a mission to teach underserved children how to read and to support the teachers who help them reach their goals.

Roots and Wings is one of the Boca West Children’s Foundation and Children’s Foundation of Palm Beach County’s most impactful charity partners. Founder Ted Hoskinson, Executive Director Michael Coleman and their team take a no nonsense approach when it comes to the important work of getting children to read at or above grade level by the time they leave 3rd grade. The proud smiles on the faces of the children that reach their reading milestones and receive a new bike and helmet that we provide are priceless.
